| Thursday morning was the rally. Drivers and navigators of
the 70+ participants gathered at 10am for the driver's meeting. After the
usual spiel about don't speed, not accepting responsibility for arguments
and to have fun, we all lined up to be clocked out. However, since cars
were leaving at one minute intervals, the line moved rather slowly. The
Swiss Family Sutton helped pass the time by supplying a four litre pail of
ice cream and some plastic spoons and cups (mmmm.....chocolate).
Finally
it was time to set out on our own. The directions were fairly simple with
a minimum of "is this our turn?". Most of the questions also were quite
straight forward and we only had to backtrack twice to locate answers.
Most of the roads were quiet roads in residential areas but there was one
small section though downtown that was a little stressful-for both car and
driver. All this added up to a rally that was an enjoyable tour of the
city and not an experiment in marital stress.
There was a major concern over a cow on a garage door where cars were
turning back to retrace what they thought they missed, everyone started
doing that. Turned out that it was much further along the route.
